What foods can lead to a restful sleep?

There are many causes that can lead to problems with sleep and rest deprivation can cause memory loss, obesity, hypertension and depression.

A healthy sleep has many benefits, recalling increased immunity, weight loss, better memory and increased disposition of learning new things.

The answer most handy when it comes to sleeping problems seem to be the sleeping pills, but they can lead to physiological addiction, and psychological one. There are various alternatives that can help you have a restful sleep.

The first such solution is offered by nuts, Brazilian and classical. They have a high content of protein, potassium and selenium, helping the body in the production of melatonin. It is a natural sleep hormone, thus inducing the state needed for the rest. In the same category of sources that help produce melatonin we include turnips and spinach. Chickpeas, shrimp and lobster are a natural source of tryptophan, an amino acid converted by the body into serotonin, the hormone that helps relax.

Lettuce included in the dinner menu also helps. Also, drinking lettuce tea before bed provides a source of lactucarium, a substance with sedative properties that help the brain to relax.

To produce Melatonin and Serotonin, the body needs vitamin B6 found in tuna, salmon, raw garlic and pistachios.

Another category of foods that induce sleep are those with a high glycemic index, such as bread and pasta. Once consumed, they increase blood glucose and insulin levels and after lowering it, a state of drowsiness is installed.

Chamomile tea is also very useful for sleeping because of its glycine content, a substance that relaxes the nervous system and muscles and can act as a mild sedative.
